Understanding Chemistry at the molecular level

Can we understand chemical reactivity in solution?

Supported by theoretical calculations, new techniques coupled to modern mass spectrometers, like reaction intermediate fishing, InfraRed Multiphotonic Dissociation spectroscopy (IRMPD) and ion mobility (IMS), are proven to be extremely powerful. These techniques allow the physical chemist to work closer to the real systems, providing fast answers for the many areas of chemistry and other sciences. Our goal is to use these techniques to probe, in the gas phase, reaction intermediates at their actual reaction media. To achieve this goal, we develop experimental techniques to probe these systems in the gas phase. It may sound unusual, but this approach to "wet" chemistry allows us to describe reaction intermediates in the molecular level.

Our group believes that collaboration makes science thrive. Our instruments are available and we are willing to collaborate with groups with similar interests around the globe. Our instruments are suitable for IRMPD spectroscopy and ion mobility experiments and can be requested as multiuser instruments. If you are interrested in any kind of collaboration, get in touch and we will be more than happy to work together.
