The Department of Biochemistry (DBQ) at the Chemistry Institute of University of
São Paulo invites applications for two full‐time tenure‐track assistant professor
faculty positions. DBQ engages in cutting‐edge fundamental and applied
biochemistry and molecular biology research, and aims to provide world‐class
education.
 
 
Applications are welcome from candidates whose expertise complements and synergizes
with any of the wide range of biochemistry and molecular biology research areas in the
department, and who promote interdisciplinary collaborations. The successful candidate
is expected to develop a vibrant, externally funded research program, to contribute to
teaching and mentoring, and to promote an inclusive departmental and campus climate.
 
Financial support for research in the state of São Paulo comes from a variety of sources,
including FAPESP (https://fapesp.br/en), the world‐renowned state funding agency. The
department hosts a motivated and talented student body that includes about 150
graduate students, about 50 post‐doctoral fellows, and many undergraduate research
students. São Paulo, Brazil´s largest city, is a diverse and cosmopolitan metropolis, with
world‐class infrastructure and services and vibrant arts, entertainment, and gastronomy
scenes.
 
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. The position requires commitment to teaching and
ability to conduct independent research. The entry‐level monthly salary (MS3 level) is
R$ 14,761.02 (approximately USD 2,800 as of April, 2024) plus benefits.
