Research direction:
The loss of proteostasis (protein homeostasis) is one of the hallmarks of aging and is also present in several diseases. Our research group studies regulatory pathways of proteostasis in these contexts, using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a model. We are also interested in understanding how signal transmission from the nervous system to peripheral tissues modulates stress-associated responses, such as the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) of the Endoplasmic Reticulum. To answer these questions, our group employs techniques such as transcriptomics, fluorescence microscopy, and molecular biology tools. Group's website: https://sites.usp.br/evandro/
